Layered Palpation; A Dynamic Exploration of Visceral Anatomy
I have been hard at work revising and IMPROVING the layered palpations in order to make them more clinically relevant.
Why you need to do layered palpations!
Layered palpations are an excellent way to take your understanding of anatomy from the static, one dimensional page of anatomy books to a dynamic and multidimensional experience.
Blending an accurate understanding of anatomy, and visualization based on that anatomy with intention, layered palpations, under the direction of an experienced guide can profoundly enhance your listening skills.
Research has shown that under the skillful guidance of an experienced teacher/communicator the brain of the student and the brain of the teacher will sync in a dynamic display of interconnected entrainment. We will explore this phenomenon and much more through these layered palpation experiences.
What you will learn!
- Visceral anatomy with a focus on the relationship between structure and function.
- Peritoneal connections, which will enhance the subtle and precise nuances in your listening.
- Visceral articulations, which will assist you in distinguishing between organs and tissues.
- Relevant musculoskeletal relationships in order to enhance your understanding of referred pain patterns and patient symptoms.
- Vascular, neural and lymphatic relationships.
- Potential pathologies and how this can be accurately perceived and interpreted.
Just a few of the topics we will explore during this webinar series:
- What does it mean to "palpate" an organ?
- How are you able to listen to an organ through a multitude of tissue layers?
- How does your brain process information received through palpation?
- What are the key skin receptors through which you access information in the patient's tissues?
- What is the role of intention and visualization?
Interwoven with the seemingly simple act of palpation are multiple streams of information:
- Receptors in your hand.
- Receptors in the skin of the patient.
- The depth of your understanding of anatomy & physiology.
- Your intention.
- Your inherent ability to visualize and imagine.
Webinar Logistic Details:
- No pre reqs required! Session 1, 2 & 3 are open to EVERYONE! Session 4-13 are reserved for Focused, Serious and Committed subscribers ONLY.
- If you cannot attend the first session you can still participate in the second one.
- Each live webinar will be offered on a Saturday at 2:00PM (PST) and cover 2 organs lasting for about 75 minutes. If you do not live in the Pacific Standard Time zone go to the following link to find the time difference between PST (Ashland, Oregon) and your city. Click here to see Time Zone Converter.
- You will receive an email about one week before the live webinar with the Zoom details, at which time you will need to register. The registration information will be on the Zoom link I send you.
- The live event will be recorded. About 2-3 weeks after the live webinar the recording will be available to Focused, Serious and Committed subscribers ONLY on vmstudygroup.com.
- The Layered Palpation live webinar series will take place over the next couple years (one 75–minute session about every 2 months).
- In each live class we spend about 15 minutes discussing the anatomy and relevant visceral articulations for each organ to prepare you for a 20–30 minute layered palpation of the organ.
- You can participate via a couple different ways:
- Having a partner during the layered palpation would be the best experience for you.
- You can follow along with me and feel your own organs.
- With your computer screen open you can follow along with me via anatomy images and visualize the layers.
- You can listen to the audio and visualize the layers as I guide you.
